Hey there everyone! I started a Bible Study with an email group of friends and now I want to share even more. Some of these were written in the context of talking to my email group just to warn you :)
Anyways here is one of them and I hope to post another one next Wednesday! Study: 2 Subject: Judging Others Writer: Ellie References I used: -Isaiah 41:10 -Romans 14:4,10 -Proverbs 29:26 -Matthew 7:1 - 1 Corinthians 4:1-5 -James 2:3-4,6,13, 4:7-8,10-12 As humans we are all prone to judging one another. It could happen through a small misunderstanding, jealousy, envy, being on another persons side, and even could happen through snooping or eavesdropping. {Tut-tut} :) I do it too. A lot. Actually. :) Something might not match up so I judge one person and side with the other, when maybe me or all three of us were at fault. I think it all just comes down to love. We need to love our fellow man, NOT judge them. We say "Oh sure, I love them," but 2 hours later we are judging them for something you heard they did. Many parts of the Bible, mainly in the New Testament, talk about judging. You know we judge others, but by judging them we are giving them a reason to judge us. Let's say for example. Someone that you aren't as close to tells you that one of your favorite restaurants are closing down. You say okay, are disappointed, but you trust them. Then a couple days later a close friend tells you that, "No, the restaurant is not closing down, but just moving down the street.". You then get upset and blame the other person saying they lied. You say that you have a right to do that, but actually you are judging them. And you have no right to do that. {1 Cor. 4:4-5} We say we were not judging them just stating facts, but did you see anything in that story saying that you talked to that person to hear their side? I didn't think so. First of all you needed to talk to them to know if they were stating a fact and second who would purposely lie about a restaurant that is just going to move down the street. Really? See sometimes we say we aren't judging. Judging = From an opinion of without knowing the facts. How many times have you judged? How many people have you judged? You do not need to answer just think about it. All I can say is too many. 1 is too many. But I know being a human I am sure we have all went over that number. This problem can't just disappear with a prayer, trust me I tried. This problem can be solved by, -Sincere prayer -Perseverance and trying your best -And especially surrendering your life, emotions, and thoughts over to God. Because the Bible says: Judge not that ye be not judged. {Matt. 7:1} And it also says, "Fear thou not, for I am with thee; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will STRENGTHEN thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of righteousness." God is going to help you through this, but you got to surrender and cast your judgment towards others to Him. For He says: "Many seek the ruler's favor; but every man's judgment cometh from the Lord. {Pr. 29:26} Homework questions and thoughts: -Read the scripture -What did you get from this? -Did any of this hit you in a new way? -How did this help you in your day to day life? -And last but not least, pray for those around you. We all struggle. And to end I would like to make a public confession. This is hard but I want to say it. Many times I have judged those around me, friends, family, strangers. Some of you in this group have been judged by me. But I was wrong and I ask that you would forgive me and pray for me. And I know it is very possible that you have judged me and I want you to know that you too are forgiven. Thanks for reading have a great week! And let me know your thoughts down in the comments! ~Elisheva Kauffman
